If something goes wrong, and the red diag light goes on immediately at boot time and stays on indefinitely, your flash may have failed. You can use the TFTP method to recover the router, but you have to use the buffalo factory image that has the file extension 'enc'. This will bring you back the the factory firmware, but you won't have to solder anything or buy a new router.
